The future mining and use of oil shale from the mining rights of the
NVG –
Naturschiefer-Vertriebsgesellschaft mbH
NVG is the owner of 30 mining rights for slate in the area of the "Sauerland".
These mining rights, which have been owned by NVG or its predecessors
for many decades, also include the history of the shareholder or his
ancestors, who were the owners and have always been involved in the
exploitation of the slate.
After a long period of rest in the exploitation of the slate, a more active approach is again sought and well prepared.
Thus, the connections with the responsible mining office have already
been established, a mining engineer from the immediate vicinity is also
ready to handle the mining.
For
this, above all, there are new possibilities for the use of the slate
as a reason. These will be the areas of energy supply and agriculture,
each with innovative uses that exclusively take into account the idea
of sustainability.
The traditional use of slate
The
conventional use of "Sauerland oil shale" is currently limited to use
as a covering for real estate or as an additive in the construction
industry.
This is obviously also the reason why only a few companies are currently mining in Germany.
The future use of slateWe are aiming for future use in other areas. For this purpose, the foreign market will also be considered for certain products.
This refers to the area of wall and floor tiles, as well as countertops in kitchens and other areas.
In
addition, there is the intended use in energy supply and storage as
well as in agriculture with innovative and/or expanded uses in each
case.
Although further developments are still to be carried out here,
corresponding partners are also being prepared. For reasons of
confidentiality, we do not wish to provide further details here.
Not
to forget the possibilities of using slate in the form of tiles, which
can be implemented in the short term and which bring with them the
increasingly important aspect of the almost non-existent carbon
footprint.
THEN: Unlike conventional tiles, slate tiles do not require firing - are easy to install and can even be "repaired"!
Processing the products
The processing of the slate takes place on a site ready for use in the spatial vicinity of Olsberg.
This site is located approximately halfway between the mining areas in
"North Rhine-Westphalia" and "Hessen". There is sufficient space
available there to produce not only slate slabs or tiles. Likewise, the
other products intended for future use can be manufactured there - at
least at the beginning and for the initial demand.
Social benefits
Each of the mining areas to be used for mining will be worked with at least one shift with about 20 workplaces each.
In each case, about 10 workplaces will be
A) for underground mining and
B) for the processing of the extracted shale above ground.
In addition, more than one mining line can be used at nearly all mining claims.
It can be assumed that three working lines with two working shifts each will be installed at each mining area.
In this way, a total of 120 new jobs will be created per mining right.
Plus approx. 5 to 10 additional jobs for administration / sales /
storage.
For
the Sauerland region, this means around 130 primary full-time jobs that
are completely independent of the season and weather conditions.
Competitive Advantages
With
the further possibilities of the use of the slate worked out by us, we
aim primarily at the use in the field of renewable energies (storage)
and agriculture.
In
addition, the use of slate as wall and floor tiles is being pushed, as
it requires less energy to produce. For example, slate - compared to
conventional tiles - only needs to be processed but not fired.
Thus, at least the significantly better carbon footprint can be highlighted here.
Marketing strategy
For
the distribution of the "new" and "old" products we will use our
already established network. In this way, we will use both the
conventional area with DIY stores. In addition, we have already
established appropriate contacts in the automotive industry and in
agriculture. By involving research institutes, we will initially
attract attention through the publication of resulting scientific
papers - and thus awaken or substantially increase demand for these new
products.
Aims of the NVG
By resuming the use of the shale, which is available in large
quantities - according to current estimates, the supply will last for
several hundred years - NVG will participate in the development of new
products for agriculture and, in particular, for a sustainable energy
supply, thus generating a good return, combined with new jobs that will
be lost elsewhere due to the necessary reorientation of the energy
industry.
Fracking under the umbrella of the NVG will never happen for several
reasons - and for reasons of environmental protection it is even
forbidden.
Summary
- NVG is the owner of 30 mining rights for Sauerland oil shale
-
In the case of mining rights, mining can be carried out under the
company's own direction. A mining engineer is available for this
purpose.
- The mentioned innovations for the use of oil shale are brought to practical application with further developments.
- Each mining right that is initiated creates approximately 130 new primary full-time jobs that are not seasonal.
- The energy industry, which is dependent on fossil fuels, is being put on a new path.
